Criticism-It Hurts To Be Falsely Accused

Have you ever been falsely accused of something?

Have you ever been criticized?

Matthew 5:11 says, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.”

If you’re doing good things with the right intentions and you’re being honorable and fair, sometimes you may be criticized by the most unlikely people or maybe by someone you have never even met.

Most of the time the criticisms come because you are “doing something.”

Teddy Roosevelt said, “It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred with dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory or defeat.”

So if you are doing something noble, true and right, and you’re being criticized, Celebrate!

Most people never do anything; they never take action.

Copywriting guru Ray Edwards, says that C.R.I.T.I.C. stands for Can’t Really Invent Things; Instead Criticizes.

Remember, your place “shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory or defeat.”

The only way to be sure you are never criticized is not to do anything.

In his book, “Eating Problems For Breakfast,” Tim Hansel includes a humorous, fictional letter to Jesus in His search of the twelve disciples. If Jesus had hired a management consultant firm to do the picking and choosing of the Twelve, this letter from the consulting firm tells Jesus who they think would be the best candidate.

When we talk about helping our children develop leadership qualities, this letter gives us something to think about.

Raising an Artist or Photographer

Christine Magtoto of KidPrentice believes kids can do great things. She explains how to encourage our children who are into art or photography.

Believe it or not, there are many kid artists and photographers around the world. Just check online auction shops and you will realize that there are artworks sold which are created by children. In fact, a family in Asia sells bags made from recycled paper – their daughter creates the funky designs for their bags. With the help of the Internet, you can encourage your kids to be more proactive when it comes to promoting their craft.

Even at a young age, you will see if your son or daughter is showing interest in art. If you see signs in budding kid artists in your children, hone their skills and interests by providing materials such as coloring books, paints, clays and many other tools that would encourage them to make artworks.

Take them to museums and exhibits to learn about different mediums available to artists, and to find out about their apprenticeship programs. Talk to other artists and photographers and ask them to apprentice your child. Learning from a mentor facilitates your child’s or teen’s abilities.

Lastly, open the minds of your children to potential careers as artists and photographers. It is not enough to let them hone their skills and talents; you also need to help them realize that they can make inspiring careers out of their talents.

Selling paintings, sculptures and photos in galleries or on the Internet is not the only thing artists can do. They can also be commercial graphic artists who are responsible for creating pieces of art in magazines, books, newspapers, leaflets, posters and other promotional materials. Being an illustrator or cartoonist for big animation firms can also be interesting.

Develop your kid artists with apprenticeship programs at museums, enroll them in art classes, take photos, make scrapbooks and use art techniques to help inspire their creative juices.

There are a number of summer classes and classes that specifically teach children and teens the art techniques and styles they can employ. Although your kids can draw or paint naturally, they make still need to learn techniques that can help improve the combinations of dimension, texture and color. Most importantly, have fun as you learn and grow with your child.

 

Writing Articles

Writing articles to submit to article directories is a great way to drive traffic to your Web site or blog and articles also help build your credibility.

But writing articles is also an incredible avenue for teaching homeschooling high school students correct writing skills. Your kids usually do a great of writing anyway so why not channel that writing into developing some entrepreneurial skills. You never know–they might just catch the entrepreneurial bug! And they can actually submit their writings to online article directories.

Their articles will be published. What a great motivator for your kids (and you) to create interesting and quality articles. They will be thrilled to see their name in print. Ezine Articles will even refer to them as an “Expert Author” once they’ve published their first submission. “Article Writer” would also look great on a resume or college application.

Who Really Starts Most Small Businesses and Why?

Many people who think they want to go into business for themselves have been working for someone else. Most likely, they do technical work and are very good at it.

Technical work covers a wide range of occupations:

  • Carpenter
  • Mechanic
  • Machinist
  • Bookkeeper
  • Dog trainer
  • Hairdresser
  • Computer programmer
  • Doctor
  • Dentist

The list can go on and on. These people are good at what they do, but they’re doing it for someone else.

When these people decide to go into business for themselves, it’s not because they have figured out how business works. It’s usually because something irritated them at work such as a feeling that their boss doesn’t appreciate them.

So You Think You’re an Entrepreneur

Michael Gerber, in his book The E Myth Revisited, talks about the average picture of an entrepreneur. 

Typically, we think of an entrepreneur as:

  • A man or woman who stands along
  • They are windblown against the elements
  • They courageously face overwhelming odds
  • They climb steep sides of dangerous rock

Why does someone do this? So they can capture their dream of growing a business of their own.

Are there really people like this? Yes, but they are rare.

Gerber says of the thousands of business people that he has known and worked with, very few were real entrepreneurs.

What really happened to these people and their vision?

  • Climbing the dangerous rocks became something to cling to instead of conquer.
  • They were exhausted from dealing with their business instead of exhilarated by it.
  • They were no longer driven by their dream.

For these people, the entrepreneur mindset only briefly existed, and then it was gone.

We have a misunderstanding about entrepreneurs, and that misunderstanding is what Gerber calls “the e-myth.”
