Living Through an Impossible Situation

“To live through an impossible situation,

you don’t need to have the reflexes of a Grand Prix driver, the muscles of a Hercules,

the mind of an Einstein. You simply need to know what to do.”

Anthony Greenback, The Book of Survival

We all have situations in life that can give us set backs or make us think our plans have all been in vain. But after awhile “we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start all over again.”

In The E-Myth Revisted, Michael Gerber talks about a concept called The Business Development Process. It is a process that can be systematically applied in a step-by-step method that becomes a predictable way to produce results and vitality in any small business whose owner is willing to give it the time and attention it needs to flourish.

Michael Gerber says that your business is nothing more than a reflection of who you are. If you are sloppy, your business will be sloppy; if you are disorganized, your business will be disorganized. If you are greedy, your employees will be greedy; giving less of themselves and asking for more.

So to make a business work, you have to change how you think and how you act. The first change you need to make has to do with what you think a business really is and what it takes to make a business work.

Take some time to mull this over.

What do you need to change about how you act and how you think?

Next time we’ll talk about something called an entrepreneurial seizure.

Talk to you soon,

Susan

“That’s Life”

That’s Life–These are two of the most dangerous words. Yet we say them over and over again.

That’s life means “going with the flow,” passively swallowing whatever comes our way.

This outlook on life will inevitably lead to a lesser level of life than you were created to live.

Basically, there are two types of attitudes toward life:

  • life is hard, with a few happy moments
  • Life is a blast, with a few difficult moments

You can choose which of these two attitudes you will live.

How does a person act when they fall into the “that’s life” trap?

  • Loss of vision and direction for their life
  • Sense of being captured or lost in the rat race
  • Looking for their security in something other than God

One of the most ignored and alarming truths about this attitude toward life is that we are all susceptible to it. All we have to do to live this kind of life is — nothing.

A “that’s life” attitude is a constant state of mental indifference. If we just accept whatever comes our way and somehow cope with it the best we can, our circumstances will dominate us and we will lose our joy.

How do we protect ourselves from living a “that’s life” attitude?

  • We cling to God; He’s smarter than we are.
  • We adopt a positive outlook on life.
  • We take action. We work toward our goals, one small step at a time.
  • We use our brain daily.
  • We develop and strengthen our gifts and talents.
  • We clear away negative thought patterns.
  • We know we cannot change our past, but we can change our future…look forward!
  • We realize that God has designed a perfect plan for our lives, we just have to decide to walk in it.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.         (Ephesians 2:10)

God prepared you to live a good life, not a sorrowful one. Instead of striving to keep your head above water, why not walk on the water? Jesus did, and He said through Him all things are possible.

    Where Do You Start?

Many successful Internet entrepreneurs say the easiest way to get started in an online business is to start with eBay or affiliate marketing.

I’ve tinkered with eBay a little bit and want to get more involved doing that.

I attended an affiliate marketing conference about a year ago and it was fascinating. Affiliate marketing is when you make an agreement with a person or company to market their product or service for them, and you are paid a commission.

I have done several affiliate sales and it’s really cool when that check comes in the mail.

I only market items that I truly believe in and know that the product can really help others.

On Sept. 25-27 I’m going to an affiliate marketing conference in Dallas called Affiliate Inferno. This is hosted by Stu McLaren and his partner Russell Brunson. I’ve heard Stu speak before and I am looking forward to this. They both are from Canada so they say “aboot” instead of about and they end most of their sentences with “eh”.

If you’re thinking about learning about Internet marketing, I want to invite you to join me. Affiliate marketing is a great way to get started. Go to Affiliate Marketing Conference and check it out. It will be a lot of fun.
